This unit is taken over two successive semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. Students can commence the unit in either semester 1 or semester 2. <br/><br/>Students are required to attend a scientific communication course and submit a dissertation; the latter is the research component for honours in Mathematical Statistics. Students should approach relevant staff members to discuss possible projects. The dissertation may be entirely concerned with aspects of probability or statistical theory, or it may be based on analysis of some real data with attention given to descriptions, explanations or derivations of relevant theory.
