This unit examines the nature of human motor skill including sensory inputs, central decision mechanisms and outputs. How this process is controlled to produce efficient and coordinated action is examined under both cognitive and dynamical systems approaches. The development of motor skill is also examined, with an emphasis on qualitative analysis of fundamental motor skills. The structuring of effective learning experiences is examined from a coaching, pedagogic and rehabilitation perspective.
