This unit provides a comprehensive overview of health promotion theory and practice. Topics covered include understanding health and its determinants; the role of health promotion, understanding and influencing health behaviours; health promotion planning and evaluation; health promotion practice and competencies; social marketing and health; public health advocacy and the media; healthy public policy; and working with different populations and in different settings. The unit is taught and learned through a combination of lectures, tutorial activities, guest presentations, small group discussions, case studies and debate. -- Course Website
