This unit describes the management and control of chronic diseases (such as cardiovascular disease) and emergent infectious diseases using a multidisciplinary approach.

Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, emerging epidemics, over-nutrition and environmental diseases are studied in some depth in Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal populations. Students investigate strategies to control these diseases including clinical, psychosocial and cultural approaches.

Students are also introduced to environmental risk assessment and the process of identifying and quantifying the risk of community exposures to potential hazards. -- Course Website
