This unit examines economic concepts and techniques within aspects of the health system. These include determinants of the demand and supply of health care, the use of market theory in the health care sector and the application of economic evaluation methods in health sector planning and purchasing. This unit also discusses recent health sector financing and organisational reform initiatives, alternative methods of funding health services, alternative approaches to allocating resources and setting priorities in health care and market failure in the market for health care. -- Course Website
