This advanced undergraduate unit examines the theory and practice of managing and leading health care services and population health programs. It deals with the principles of leadership and management needed in the development and delivery of health services. A distinction is made between visioning and leading change in health organisations, and the planning of management of health service programs. The theoretical and conceptual basis for a range of leadership and management skills is covered, including leadership transition, policy development, operational planning and the use of information and evaluation systems.
