People present to clinical psychologists with a set of problems for which they are seeking assistance. This unit aims to provide a conceptual framework for the assessment and conceptualisation of problems, articulating the principles upon which practice can be based. Students are introduced to the diagnosis (using DSM and ICD), diagnostic interviewing and assessment through interview (e.g. history taking and conducting a mental status examination) and psychometric instruments appropriate for the measurement and monitoring of a wide range of psychopathology. Students also learn how to organise clinical material into a case formulation to guide treatment selection and delivery.... -- Course Website
