This unit has three broad aims: (1) to introduce the scientist-practitioner model of clinical practice and to examine the research base for psychotherapy; (2) to examine the nature of psychotherapeutic process and the therapeutic relationship; and (3) to examine the historical, philosophical and theoretical bases of the cognitive behavioural therapies.
