This unit provides an overview of the main techniques of psychology including the design of research studies, the measurement of variables and the logic of hypothesis testing and the statistical analysis of data in behavioural sciences. The emphasis for the unit is a mix of theory and practice, and the expectation is that students successfully completing the unit are able to appropriately design research and select, perform and interpret statistical analyses. <br/><br/>The methods of instruction for this unit are a combination of lectures and laboratories. <br/><br/>Lectures address the sense, logic and some foibles of a range of statistical techniques.
