This unit reviews the kinetics and kinematics of normal human walking and discusses the effectiveness and reliability of clinical measurement. The clinical use of Pedar™ in-shoe and EMED™ platform plantar pressure measurement technologies in particular patient groups is explored, for example, those with peripheral neuropathy. The use of kinematic measuring techniques such as Silicone Coach™ and slow-motion cinematography is used to study the gait of patients on a treadmill. Similarly the use of electromyographic measuring techniques is discussed and practised. -- Course Website
