This includes musculoskeletal medicine; the role of the podiatrist as a team member in managing sports-related injuries; the diagnosis and podiatric management of common sporting injuries of the lower extremity, including the use of physical therapy modalities used in the treatment of soft tissue injuries of the foot and ankle. The growth and development of the paediatric patient is explored, together with diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the lower extremity in the young patient.
