This unit consists of lecture modules on Classical Mechanics, Modern Optics, Special Relativity and Discussions in Physics. The unit must be taken by students who wish to major in Physics. It contains the coursework modules Modern Optics, Special Relativity and Classical Mechanics. In Modern Optics, students are introduced to methods used in physical optics with an emphasis on applications to a broad range of scientific fields. In Classical Mechanics, students study the Hamiltonian and Lagrangian formulations of mechanics, and the role of symmetries. In Special Relativity, students learn about space-time events and the basic equations of Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity. -- Course Website
