This unit provides a broad overview of musculoskeletal diseases in general, with particular emphasis on the more common bone and soft tissue neoplasms. Their clinical and pathologic manifestations are discussed in detail along with aspects of pathogenesis and molecular genetics that are important in facilitating the diagnosis and management of these diseases. The contents of the unit build upon the existing undergraduate knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and molecular biology, and provide students with a sound understanding of the scientific basis from which pathologic diagnoses are derived.
