This unit examines the paediatric aspects of the physiology of body systems and covers the ontogeny of sleep from embryo to adult; the neurophysiology of sleep; the respiratory system during sleep; the cardiovascular responses to sleep; and, using examples, the physiological concepts and interactions of the various human systems ramifying on sleep including nervous, respiratory, cardiac and muscular.
