Some of the world’s best-endowed, diverse mineral-resource regions are in locations such as South Africa. During the excursion participants examine world-class deposit styles not common in Australia. Mine tours and visits to outcrops are used to strengthen theoretical knowledge of geological concepts that are applicable to a wide variety of deposit types. In South Africa, areas to be visited on the excursion include Witwatersrand gold-uranium, Bushveld platinum, Phalaborwa copper, and Premier mine kimberlite-hosted diamonds. -- Course Website
