This unit is designed to address the failure and damage of materials and structures due to corrosion and wear, and relevant methods used to prevent such failures. The unit covers the following topics including electrochemical fundamentals of corrosion; forms of corrosion; corrosion testing methods; corrosion control and prevention; corrosion resistant materials; high temperature degradation of ceramics and degradation of polymers. In addition, the unit covers topics including types of wears; wear mechanisms; wear-resistant materials; and prevention of wear through materials selection and design.<br/><br/>Students understand the mechanisms governing various type of degradation of... -- Course Website
