This unit provides an exposure to some of the many interesting ideas of pure mathematics, and provides foundations for further study. Topics may include cardinality, elementary number theory, equivalence relations, polynomial rings and their ideals, norms and metrics, metric spaces, completeness, compactness, and the contraction mapping principle and its consequences. -- Course Website
