This unit is an introduction to the legal framework for international trade and explains the relevant international and domestic laws which affect that activity. Emphasis is placed on the treaties and conventions which are crucial to international commercial transactions. The five major areas of study are international sale of goods; settlement of commercial disputes; carriage of goods (by sea and air); payment in international trade; and marine insurance. Students gain a better appreciation of the legal complexities associated with international transactions. Students who intend to work in any area involving international trade or commerce would find this unit very useful and relevant. -- Course Website
