This unit offers an introduction to Australian banking and finance law and covers the legal aspects of financial transactions that are undertaken by both individuals and business organisations. The topics covered include security interests over property, remedies of secured creditors, negotiable instruments such as bills of exchange and cheques, consumer credit transactions, banker–customer relationship, electronic banking, and financial products such as interests in managed investment schemes and debentures. Students who are planning to work in the accounting, banking or finance fields would find the unit especially useful. -- Course Website
