This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit.<br/><br/>The unit concentrates on the general growth and development of the body, introducing development of the craniofacial complex including dentition and occlusion; occlusion; malocclusion including classification, prevalence, aetiology, evaluation, diagnosis and characteristics of all types of malocclusion; the histological response to orthodontic and orthopaedic forces; the principles of treatment and their application; interceptive and preventive orthodontics; cephalometrics; appliance therapy and the construction of removable/functional and simple fixed appliances. -- Course Website
