This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. <br/><br/>Through a program of lectures, pre-clinical sessions and clinics, students are introduced to the study of periodontics and taught the processes of examination, diagnosis, planning and treatment of patients.<br/><br/>This periodontics unit builds on the foundations and knowledge laid down in the pre-clinical basic sciences in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and microbiology, and immunology and applies the principles learned in these disciplines to the detailed study of the periodontal tissues in health and disease.
