This unit is taken over two successive semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. Students can commence the unit in either semester 1 or semester 2.<br/><br/>The unit involves undertaking a program of experimental study in a research-active laboratory under the supervision of an experienced member of the discipline. The experimental data obtained are then presented in the form of a written thesis which, after submission, are subjected to an oral defence. The thesis details the background to the research, the methods employed, the results obtained, an analysis of the results in the context of the field and a bibliography. -- Course Website
