This unit develops an appreciation for the importance of ordinary and partial differential equations (ODEs and PDEs) in environmental engineering. It provides students with a selection of analytical techniques for solving ODEs and PDEs that occur frequently in environmental engineering, and helps students use these techniques to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying physical phenomena. In addition, it introduces students to various computational techniques and methods of numerical analysis broadly applicable to science and engineering such as finite difference approaches. -- Course Website
