This core unit aims to develop students' research skills beyond the levels experienced in undergraduate studies, with a view to ensuring success in the dissertation and other Honours units. Classes introduce a range of common challenges experienced by researchers in research, writing and reading in English and Cultural Studies, and explore techniques for successfully solving these problems, through a series of case studies in research practice. Issues to be addressed range from how to frame an argument, and how to synthesise and respond to variant critical interpretations, to the best ways to identify and utilise print and digital research resources. -- Course Website
