This unit develops in-depth technical competence in the design and synthesis of digital Integrated Circuits (ICs). The topics covered include IC manufacturing technology, layout and design rules, static and dynamic logic, arithmetic blocks, transistor sizing and propagation delay, optimisation for performance (speed, area and power), memories, floor planning, clocking, interconnect issues and challenges of future integrated circuit design. Students make extensive use of CAD IC Design and Verification Tools through an IC design project. -- Course Website
