This unit addresses humanity's greatest challenge, that is, how to balance the need for economic well-being with the pressing need to protect the environment. Environmental economics is about analysing this challenge and finding solutions to problems like climate change, fisheries management, and biodiversity conservation. Environmental economics is now recognised as a profession within economics. It differs from mainstream economics in that the environmental economist needs to understand the natural science as well as the economics. -- Course Website
