This unit emphasises a wide range of applications drawn from business and economics, using basic calculus, linear algebra and preparatory statistics. Calculus includes the study of functional forms, powers and polynomials, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation and partial differentiation, unconstrained optimisation, global and local optima, graphical analysis. Financial mathematics involves areas of mathematics used extensively in accounting and finance.
