Plate tectonics controls the distribution of Earth's continents and oceans with most tectonic activity concentrated along plate boundaries. This unit looks at the relationships between plate movements, large-scale crustal processes and flow of fluids through the crust, and the geological structures that are produced at present day plate boundaries. This information is then used to interpret tectonic structural evolution of ancient geological terrains, with particular emphasis on very old areas of Western Australia including a field trip to the southern coast. -- Course Website
