This unit focuses on the geochemistry, composition and textures of igneous and metamorphic rocks and how these are related to tectonic setting. It covers advanced geochemistry (including major and trace elements, rare earth elements and isotopes), and interpretation of magmatic sources and processes in the formation of igneous rock suites (including extraterrestrial materials). In addition, this unit outlines key relationships between magma petrogenesis and ore-forming processes. -- Course Website
