This unit emphasises the dynamic processes influencing Earth's surface environment. Several main themes are explored starting with an overarching introduction to Earth Systems. We subsequently explore subsystems of the Earth and system boundaries; the climate system of the Earth; and how humans interact with and are influenced by Earth system processes. Emphasis is placed on how these sub-systems are linked by investigation at both global and local scales. An understanding of dynamic Earth processes allows evaluation of environmental issues that affect society and human life, both regionally and globally. -- Course Website
