In this unit the characteristics of learners—physical, cognitive and social/emotional—are identified. Other topics include the role of memory and learning in assessment, and the influence of age, gender, equity issues, cultural background and moral development on learning. Students are encouraged to understand the needs of learners with special challenges such as students with English as a second language, those with special needs and international students. The methodology available to assess the effectiveness of teaching strategies on student learning is described. -- Course Website
