This core unit comprises lectures and tutorials on the theoretical aspects of the basic management of oral and maxillofacial surgical cases. The areas covered include patient history taking and examination, together with experience in the assessment and selection of special investigations; assessment and surgical removal from the jaws of simple erupted, unerupted and ectopic teeth; appreciation of the role of surgery in the management of acute and chronic periapical disease; pre-prosthetic surgery; diagnosis and management of cysts of the jaws and related structures; investigation and management of disorders of the salivary glands; exposure to current methods of investigation, diagnosis... -- Course Website
