This unit encompasses both the business side of news organisations and the content component and asks whether their segmentation or overlap threatens good journalism. It explores the challenges facing editors in the shape of smaller news rooms, greater online competition and the management of journalists. It examines the difficulties and possible solutions for the declining market for advertising revenue. The unit catapults students into the ongoing high level discussions taking place in media organisations around the country and the world. -- Course Website
