This unit is designed to introduce students to research methods that are of a suitable academic standard for honours as well as have potential for input into community and management contexts. The emphasis is placed on theoretical and practical aspects that will be appropriate for the above aims. The unit commences with an overview of the scientific method, and then focuses on each stage of the research process, including the problem definition, the theoretical framework, generation of hypotheses, etc. The unit is designed to offer students a broad view of research methodology, rather than specific knowledge in one area only.
