Structured thematically around key ideas and critical moments in the development of Australian architectural history, this unit examines twentieth-century historical writing and criticism on architecture in Australia. Beginning with the conventional explanation for Australian architecture that was established by the 1920s, the unit looks at the continuation (and ongoing influence) of that tradition and, as well, at alternative interpretations that have arisen in recent decades in response to the orthodox accounts.
