This unit introduces students to construction techniques of greater complexity, with an emphasis on structure, skin and building services. Topics include structural analysis, materials and sections; fire services and safety; hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and communication systems, and the types and applicability of constructional systems. The unit inculcates an understanding of the integration of structures and services in medium- to large-scale buildings.
