This unit consists of six modules:<br/><br/>Module 1—introduction to sleep:<br/>(a) summarise the social, scientific and medical history of sleep and sleep research;<br/>(b) describe the importance of sleep;<br/>(c) explain normal sleep architecture in humans;<br/>(d) contrast sleep behaviour and architecture in humans to other species;<br/>(e) outline the impact of normal ageing on sleep architecture;<br/>(f) recognise the causes and consequences of acute and chronic sleep deprivation and sleep loss on mental and physical performance; and<br/>(g) understand the factors which lead to good sleep hygiene.<br/><br/>Module 2—regulation of sleep:<br/>(a) explain the regulation of normal sleep... -- Course Website
