Students understand through real-world examples how the theory of plant and animal breeding and biotechnology is applied in practice. The unit improves communication skills and analytical skills. Through a seminar series format (10 to 12 seminars) the unit provides an understanding of the operational side of plant and animal breeding and associated biotechnology giving the context of the breeding and associated biotechnology research environment and also an industry perspective, both private and public. Some seminars are presented by students with each presenting at least one seminar per semester.
