This course will introduce students to key concepts and perspectives in sociology through a focus on sexuality and gender. The course covers a wide range of topics such as the sexualisation of society; subcultural expressions of gender and sexuality in Goth and raunch culture; evolving forms of parenthood and family formation; transgender, sexuality, crime and deviance; the meaning of a variety of forms of masculinity and femininity; and the implications of gender and sexuality for health and wellbeing.
