Terrorism and insurgencies are increasingly identified as a growing source of conflict in the post-Cold War world. This course analyses the development of terrorism as a form of political violence in the context of the rise of the modern state and international state system. It examines the dilemmas associated with, and limitations of, conventional counter terrorist responses in countries such as Australia and the United States. -- Course Website
