This course examines the emergence of OHS as a profession and discusses the implication of professional practice for graduates. Legal and ethical issues will be reviewed. A code of ethics, including professional responsibility, integrity, honesty, objectivity, conflict of interest, confidentiality and disclosure will be discussed. Students will be exposed to the concepts of lifelong learning, continual professional development and applied research in relation to professional practice. Sources of information and their reliability and validity in terms of identifying emerging issues in OHS will be reviewed.
