This course will introduce students to all facets of preparing women for the experience of birth. Birth will be looked at from cross cultural aspect and the importance and significance on keeping birth normal and within local communities where possible will be explored. Using an example of a pregnant young woman from an indigenous community, who is obese, students will have the opportunity to identify risk factors for diabetes <br/>and gain an understanding of the major government health initiatives to improve diet and lifestyle in an attempt to reduce the incidence of diabetes and obesity within society.
