NOT 2013<br/>Aims to give insights into how gender issues influence cultural production across a variety of cultural genres. The course's main focus is on the notions of gender and sexuality, and their various interpretations and associated practice, in a number of cultures around the world. The course introduces the historical development of those notions in Western thought, and their various and successive reinventions by feminist-thinkers and queer theoreticians, drawing on the disciplines of Women's studies, Men's studies and GLBT studies. All this material is then contrasted with similar developments in countries such as Japan, China, Indonesia, France, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. -- Course Website
