This course consists of a trip to Italy, visiting the major archaeological sites of the ancient Roman world and many of the important museums and collections. There will also be associated lectures and information sessions. Sites to be visited may include, but are not restricted to: Rome, Ostia, Tivoli, Tarquinia, Cerveteri, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri and Paestum. At the completion of this course, students will not only have a greater understanding of the ancient world, but they will also experience art, monuments and culture from later periods, including the modern society of Italy.
