Subject Area: History<br/><br/>This course examines the history of Ireland from the passing of the Act of Union in 1800 to the present, with particular emphasis on the development of Irish nationalism, social and economic development, emigration and political and ethno-religous conflict. It will cover the major and events and personalities in Irish history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and up to the present when Ireland once more is faced with significant social, political and economic challenges. The course will be offered in the summer term and taught through a combination of lectures and seminars. It will be assessed though a combination of essays and assignments. -- Course Website
