This studio will focus on adapting a selected coastal settlement in Malaga, Spain (Nueva Torrequebrada), to the predicted impacts of climate change and helping mitigate the causes through reducing greenhouse gas emissions - e.g. through the integration of technology for generating alternative, carbon free energy into the town’s urban fabric. Like many settlements along the Malaga coast, Nueva Torrequebrada has been heavily impacted by tourism and associated development in the past, making it particularly vulnerable to climate change and associated threats of increased frequency and intensity of storm events, rising sea levels and drought.
