Commences with a detailed study of muscle activity (muscle energy supply and consumption, metabolism, and muscle fatigue) and extends to the study of various aspects of human exercise performance, including cardio-respiratory responses to physical activity, and the responses of endocrine and renal systems. Details current research ideas on normal function and dysfunction in this area, and discusses new methodologies.
