This unit is the first of two units which aim to prepare pre-service teachers to teach physics in secondary schools and colleges both as a specialist subject in senior years (Years 11 and 12) and within the junior science curriculum (Years 7 to 10). A central focus of this first unit is to assist pre-service teachers to build an understanding of the importance of developing an effective pedagogy for teaching physics through the continual use of critical self-reflection. The unit also aims to build an awareness of problematic physics content and evidence-based teaching approaches that sucessfully facilitate student conceptual understanding.
