This 6 point unit in the Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary Education) or a Bachelor of Education. It builds on the EDF4110 Arts Education. Music education 1 extends the consideration of curriculum design and implementation. This will encompass current curriculum frameworks and syllabi taught in Victorian educational settings, informed by important music education curricular approaches, such as Kodaly and Orff. There will be a focus on developing curricula for middle school elective music programs, such as music technology, film music, popular music, and multicultural music. Underpinning these will be the basic tenets of music education: audition, composition and performance. -- Course Website
