In this unit students will be introduced to a range of different theoretical perspectives related to children's learning and development, including developmental, sociocultural, post-structural and post-modern theories. These theoretical lenses will be used to examine images of childhood as they are constructed in relation to time, space and place, with a particular emphasis on cultural constructions including indigeneity. Students will examine learning that occurs in a range of contexts including the classroom, the home, other informal settings and the wider community, and the attendant implications this has for students from indigenous backgrounds.
